Madison Smith, mezzo-soprano, is an up and coming artist from Dallas, Texas. She has begun a varied career as a soloist and ensemble singer.
Her recent opera engagements include a virtual performance as Mrs. Grose in The Turn of The Screw with Boston Conservatory Opera Theatre, and she recently took part in a workshop of a new work, The Resurrection of Lucretia by Patricia Herzog, which depicts the story of Lucretia through a Me Too era lense. She was also seen as Orfeo in Orfeo ed Euridice, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, and Mrs. McLean in Susannah with Texas Tech Opera Theatre.
Her past solo work includes Handel’s Messiah with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, and a concert version of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas as Aeneas. As a choral singer, Madison has sung Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Symphony no. 9, and Verdi’s Messa da Requiem with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra.
During Madison’s studies, she has participated in masterclasses with Jennifer Johnson Cano and Christopher Cano, Julia Bullock, Susan Graham, and Jill Grove. She is currently working towards her Master’s degree in Opera Performance at Boston Conservatory at Berklee under the tutelage of Sara Goldstein. Madison recently graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor in Music, where she studied under Alice Anne Light and Karl Dent.
